The North-South (E117) international highway plays an important role in improving the transport infrastructure and connectivity in Georgia, which in itself contributes to the economic development of the country.
Renovation and improvement of this road is important for the development of regional economy and tourism. The population of the highland regions will have more access to the desired products and services, and the development of tourism will also give them the opportunity to start small businesses.
At this stage, the construction of two important projects on the North-South International highway is underway: Kvesheti-Kobi new road and Kvesheti-Kobi 9-km long tunnel.
Construction works are funded by donor organizations. Before approving the project, international companies conducted relevant studies, and regular monitoring is carried out during the construction process.
