About Project

The new Bakurtsikhe-Tsnori bypass highway detours Tsnori and six nearby villages (Bakurtsikhe, Kardenakhi, Anagi, Vakiri, Mashnaari and Sakobo). The traffic flows in Tsnori area will be diverted to  Tsnori bypass, significantly improving the ecology in settlements and traffic safety.

A new bypass road will be built on the side of the Alazani Valley and will connect the international road of Tbilisi-Bakurtsikhe-Lagodekhi-Azerbaijan border with the existing domestic road.

The length of the section is 16.7 kilometers and the project also foresees the construction of 6 bridges.

The construction works of the project are carried out by the international company China Road and Bridge Corporation.

Funding

The project is funded by an international donor organization, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and its budget is 87.8 million GEL.

Monitoring

The construction process is supervised by the international company IRD Engineering S.r.l. The supervisory team at the site checks the conformity of the construction materials to be used and the works performed, conducts the necessary laboratory tests, conducts quality control, checks the compliance of labor and safety during the course of the works, agrees on the construction work methodologies, checks the execution of the work plan-schedules, the volumes of the works performed, studies environmental and social issues. , prepares monthly reports and approves technical documentation (drawings, engineering reports).
