Overall, Samtredia-Grigoleti road project is divided into 4 sections. Within the framework of the project, a total of 51.5 km long road will be built. Lot 1 (km0-km11), includes 11.5 km long road and 8 bridges. At this stage, the invited European experts are conducting complex design field research work, for developing the bridge restoration project.
The new four-lane road reduces travel time by 20-30% and bypasses densely populated areas. Three sections of the mentioned project are financed by the European Investment Bank (EIB), and the first lot is financed by the Government of Georgia.
The goal of the project is to increase the capacity of the traffic flow due to its international importance. In addition, the project aims at ensuring road safety as much as possible and facilitate the smooth movement of transit transport.
