About Project
51 km of roads are being rehabilitated in Mestia municipality under 4 projects, according to which the damaged road and infrastructure will be completely renovated.
Due to the difficult climate condition in the region (rain, snow, fog), steel rope barriers and plastic guiding signal poles will be arranged for ensuring traffic safety. These sections are part of the road connecting Zemo and Kvemo Svaneti.
The roads of Zemo and Kvemo Svaneti meet at the administrative border of Mestia and Lentekhi municipalities at Zagri pass.
After the completion of the project, the travel time from the eastern regions to the village Ushguli and Mestia will be significantly reduced. A high-quality and safe road will make travel more comfortable and easier for the tourists. The increased number of tourists is important for the full use of the resort potential and the socio-economic development of the region.
The implementation of the project started in 2022 and will be completed in 2025.
