The East-West international highway (E60-E70) connects different regions of Georgia. In addition, this section is a key corridor for international trade between Europe and Asia. The highway also plays an important role in the direction of tourism, as it significantly reduces travel time and makes the travel process as comfortable as possible.
At this stage, the construction works of 8 projects are underway on this highway. One of them is the so-called project of the century – the section of Rikoti pass (Chumateleti-Argveta). In total, 3,192 people are employed on the construction works of all eight sections, 1,988 of them are Georgian citizens, and 1,204 are foreigners.
The construction of each project is financed by international donor organizations or the Government of Georgia. Before the approval of each project, relevant studies were conducted by international research and expert companies, and during the construction process, regular monitoring of the process is carried out by international supervisory organizations.
