About Project

The Grigoleti-Kobuleti section is part of the East-West highway. Through the section Samtredia-Grigoleti road will be connected to the Kobuleti bypass, and transport will move from Grigoleti to Kobuleti on the highway.

The length of this section is 14 km. The project includes the construction of 30 bridges and 4 traffic junctions.

The project will combine the current and completed projects in the Black Sea resort area. There will be a new 110 km road from Samtredia to Chorokhi, through which it will be possible to bypass the resort areas. This is important for both the country and the region, as it will contribute to transit shipments, the development of tourism and, of course, the improvement of the ecological situation in the tourist area.

The project will be completed in 2024.

The construction works of the project are carried out by the international company Joint venture POLATYOL & MAPA.

Funding

The project is funded by the donor organization, the European Investment Bank (EIB), and its budget is 228.7 million GEL.

Monitoring

The international company JV TEMELSU-KOCKS supervises the construction process. The supervisory team at the site checks the conformity of the construction materials and performance of the works, conducts the necessary laboratory tests, quality control, checks the compliance of labor and safety during the course of the works, agrees on the construction work methodologies, checks the execution of the work schedules, the volumes of the works performed, studies environmental and social issues. It also prepares monthly reports and approves technical documentation (drawings, engineering reports).
